Professional background in a nutshell: I joined Samsung R&D’s Technology Innovation team in SRUK, in May 2022, working within Samsung’s global Technology Strategy group for Samsung Mobile (Carrier Co-operation) with a focus on Europe.

Prior to May 2022, I held a position as a research engineer (scientist) in Research & Development for the BBC. It was a job, I held for more than a decade (14.5 years). I was able to work in a lot of areas which help design and build the future of visual experiences presented on different types of screens. I tended to stick to interactive & immersive media with the BBC looking at how audiences respond to novel experiences. Before joining the BBC, I was a research fellow with the Virtual Environments & Computer Graphics group at University College London. During my time at UCL, I completed a part-time PhD in VR under Prof. Mel Slater.

My interests lie in the fields of human-computer interaction, user research, (social) VR, AR and responsive connected experiences that flow over the many devices in our lives. Take a look in my portfolio to read about some of my projects.

I have held various service roles in professional bodies. My current roles include:

I have a more chronologically organised professional profile on LinkedIn.

Personal background: I was born in Sri Lanka, brought up (with homeschooling) in Nigeria as a child of expat parents, before coming over to the UK to undertake my Bachelors degree at the University of Surrey. As a child, I wanted to either make beautiful cartoons or photograph the horizon of the Earth against a sunrise. These are still works in progress and I have gotten distracted along the way. What I have valued (and continue to view as a unique privilege) is my exposure to people from a hugely diverse background from a very young age.
